M7 Lauds Kayihura For Job Well Done
By Serestino Tusingwire
Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has praised the under fire Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kale Kayihura for the creditable job well done despite battling brutality charges in courts of law.
“People are attacking Kale Kayihura, Kale has done a good job; he stopped fujo (chaos); because people wanted to bring fujo to disrupt business. If you have fujo, you will not have wealth,” Museveni said.
He said this while speaking at the meeting organized by Urban Authorities Association of Uganda at Ntare School in Mbarara yesterday.
Gen. Kayihura is accused with other seven errant police officers for brutalizing Besigye supporters.
They allegedly tortured Besigye supporters on July 12 and 13 at Kalerwe Market and Busabala Road respectively.
The victims were cheering Besigye following his release from prison on court bail where he had spent two months on treason charges.
Kayihura’s case is before the Makindye magistrates’ court and the hearing is set to commence on 29th this month after missing the first session on August 10.
Kayihura has been criticized by many influential people like the chief justice, internal affairs minister, and justice and constitutional affairs minister among others for defying court summons.
A pro-Kayihura mob was instead organized by unknown people, raided the court and laid siege on the premises, protesting his prosecution.
