Kabale CAO Pulls ‘A Magufuli’ Locks Out Late Workers
By Serestino Tusingwire
The Chief Administrative Officer Kabale District Abert Matsiko Mutungwire has locked out district workers who reported late for work.
In what he named operation Hakuna Mchezo (no joke), Mutungwire said it had become a habit for some district officers to come late for work every day which has caused inefficiency in service delivery.
“I emphasized it earlier, but people have been coming around 10-11am which is driving our district backwards,” Mutungwire said.
According to him, the operation is aimed at effecting public service discipline and improving service delivery in government offices across the district.
Victims of this operation include the District Human Resource officer Baker Tiryeitu, District Production Officer Beda Mwebesa, District Planner Alex Twebaze, District Physical planner, District Sports Officers and District Vector Control Officer James Turyeimuka among others.
Mutugwire vowed to extend the operation to all schools, health centres and all other public offices in the whole district
The operation ‘Hakuna Mchezo’ is derived from Museveni’s motto for this term ‘Kisanja Hakuna Mchizo’ meaning there are no more jokes in any government offices during this term if Uganda is to attain the middle income status as he promised.
