AUDIO: I Have Pending Business in Town — Besigye tells Police

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)’s Kizza Besigye to has confirmed that he will be in town today to attend prayers at party headquarters and finish pending business transactions.

Besigye Kizza Besigye, a four time presidential candidate who was incarcerated at his Kasangati home from 18th February presidential election to Friday April 1st said he is optimistic police won’t block him.

“I am proceeding to Najjanankumbi through town to go and do my business after a very long time. It has been more than a month since I was out of my home. I have a lot of pending business in town and we also have some prayers in Najjanankumbi,” Besigye told journalists before leaving his home.

Adding; “I hope that today, there will be sense in the leadership of our police which has specialized in committing crimes, they will allow me to do my business without interference.”

However upon reaching  Mulago roundabout he was arrested and police  police towed his car.

In a press statement issued yesterday, police deputy spokesperson Polly Namaye said police has leant “after the prayers Col Dr. Kizza Besigye intends to drive in a procession from Najjanankumbi through Clock Tower to Container Village which is one of the most highly populated areas in Kampala City.”

“The purpose of this statement therefore is to caution RTD. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye to desist from carrying out any procession tomorrow because he has not notified the police in time as required by the Public Order Management Act sec 4 (1) 5(1). Violation of this law calls for sanctions as provided by the Act.”
