Clad in military attire, President Museveni walked from village to village soothing residents to stay calm and return home.
Photos released by the presidential press unit shows Museveni crossing a river in the day long tour.
Museveni told residents that his visit was not political but due to the conflict that is claiming lives.
“I have not come here because of politics but because of the people losing their lives and property. Whoever is responsible will suffer the consequences,” he said.
He said government is going to deploy security to ensure that peace prevails.
Museveni vowed to smash Criminals who are hiding in Rwenzori region intending to cause insecurity.
The clashes have claimed 31 people in Bundibugyo and 365 homes have been set ablaze.
Similar clashes have been registered in Kasase district.
In Kasese, last week on Wednesday at Kidodo police post, unidentified assailants attacked and killed Godfrey Kasimba a police officer who was on guard duty.
The conflict started after the February local government elections.
