Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate in the 18th February elections says Uganda Police has initiated new tricks of tormenting his supporters.
Kizza Besigye who has been incarcerated at his Kasangati home since the presidential elections yesterday said Uganda Police arrested, tortured and robbed Shs0.49 million from his supporters.
“Seems robbing my visitors is a new police tactic! Today, 3 people were separately tortured and robbed of Shs400K, 30K &60K from van UP 4861,” Besigye posted on his official Facebook page yesterday evening.
Police yesterday blocked two mini- busses carrying a group of 72 people from Rukungiri District, Besigye’s home district who were heading to his home for prayers.
The group was led by Rukungiri Municipality MP Roland Mugume, Retired Reverend Canon Charles Bamushangire and Reverend Canon Kahangirwe.
Though church leaders are pressurizing government to free Kizza Besigye from home incarceration, the latter still maintains that he will not be freed unless he denounces his defiance campaign.
However, The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kale Kayihura says that Kizza Besigye is not under house arrest but under “close monitoring.”
