Lawyers representing former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi in the Supreme Court battle challenging re-election of presidential Museveni have said it’s the police that raided their offices taking important documents and files.
The offices of Counsel Muhammad Mbabazi and Fred Muwema were raided last night.
Muhammad Mbabazi claimed that it’s the police that broke into their offices.
“Maybe they were maintaining law and order in this democratic country.”
Asked whether he will report the case to police, he said “”Report where? They [police] were here. They broke in.”
Asuman Basalirwa, one of the lawyers confirmed that some documents and laptops connected to the Supreme Court petition were taken.
Eye witnesses told NBS TV that men (allegedly police and UPDF officers), who invaded Mbabazi lawyer offices were wearing balaclava.
The lawyers arrived at office today morning only to be welcomed by shuttered glasses of office doors and windows.
Muhammad’s office is located in Wandegeya while Muwema office is located along Acacia Avenue.
Police has not commented on the claims that it was behind the raid.
