On Thursday, the Vice Chairman National Resistance Movement (NRM) Historical league for Northern Uganda, Felix Obura lost his five year battle to cancer.
Obura, 77, was a former Member of Parliament for Labwor Constituency and is remembered for his teachings which covered the district of Abim, Kotido, Kaboong, Moroto and Amudat.
He was a Councilor for the province of Karamoja (present day Moroto district) from 1962 to 1989; scaling the heights to become MP and later Vice Chairman NRM Historical league – a post he held until his death.
He was an accomplished businessman who owned Airport Hotel in Kotido.
He has left behind children including the current Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Moyo district, Grandfield Olyomonda who is the first in the community to graduate with an M.Sc (Development) from University College, Dublin (Ireland).
He has been eulogized as being, “An open minded, frank, honest, peaceful and developmental person who ensured that all his children got quality education and portrayed good public image while focusing on growth and development.”
A spokesperson from the family expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Museveni for the support rendered during the time Mzee Obura was hospitalized till his death.
The late Obura will be laid to rest yesterday in Morulem village, Abim district.
