Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Rtd Col Dr. Kizza Besigye has said that the actions of Museveni, the incumbent president are a disgrace to the presidency.
Besigye said that despite being the incumbent, Museveni should stop threatening other candidates and act like any other person in the race.
While addressing the media at his home in Kasangati yesterday, he said that Museveni shouldn’t act like there are no systems and institutions that handle things like arrests.
He was responding to arrest of Amama Mbabazi staff at his Nakasero based offices earlier in the day.
“Mr. Museveni should be called to order given his threats to other candidates and disgracing the presidency by threatening competitors…Museveni has to be cognizant of fact that despite being incumbent, he is still a candidate like any other,” he said.
He dismissed the recent Daily Monitor polls arguing that they were doctored.
Besigye said that even president Museveni disputed the polls.
“The legitimacy of any poll depends on the methodology. It would be decent if methodology is published. Even Museveni who emerged on top of the Monitor/Infotrak poll said on Sunday that he would win by 80%, not the 59.9% it forecasts,” he said adding; “those carrying out polls are being escorted by government officials. ‘Made up’ polls are part of gimmicks ahead.”
Besigye argued that managing the media through doctored polls will not solve Museveni’s unpopularity problem this time.
