National Resistance Movement (NRM) Treasurer Rose Namayanja underwent surgery on Tuesday evening after getting involved in an accident at Kigogwa along Kampala-Gulu road, the party revealed yesterday.
Rogers Mulindwa, the party communications officer said that Namayanja is responding well to medication but she is expected to stay at Nakasero Hospital for a period of one to two weeks.
“She (Namayanja) had a segmental fracture in the right thigh bone (Femur). The bone was broken into more than two pieces. She however did not sustain any other injuries. A team of medics headed by Dr. Isaac Kajja carried out a surgery on her last evening to put the broken pieces together,” Mulindwa said.
He added; “An inter-locking nail was inserted during what doctors have described as a successful surgery. She is expected to remain in the hospital for a period between one to two weeks depending on how long it will take her to stabilize on crutches without putting any weight on the operated leg.”
He said Namayanja’s body guard Mr. Kyaze Richard and the driver Ismail Sebunya have been discharged while her mother Catherine Namirembe is still undergoing treatment at Nakasero hospital.
