In a press statement released today morning, he said that Cabinet met on 30th September 2015, and considered the issue of delays in the payment, agreeing on practical steps to ensure speedy action.

“Cabinet noted that special arrangements have been put in place with the intention to clear the disrupted payments by Mid October 2015,” Rugunda said.

He added; “A team of officers from the Ministry of Public Service has been dispatched to support Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Local Governments with the verification exercise.”

Rugunda noted that the delay was caused by change in the payment system, and as a result there have been delays in the verification process. However, he said the delay is now being addressed.

“Cabinet regretted the disruption of pension payments that were already ongoing, and noted that the main reason is the transition from centralized pension payment system to a decentralized one,” he said.
