Kampala Capital City Association today morning closed Uganda House, headquarters of Uganda People Congress and other two city building; Impala House on plot 13/15 Portal Avenue and Adam House on plot 11, Portal Avenue after owners failed to adhere to renovation notice.
“Today (26 August 2015) we closed off the following buildings for failure to adhere to the renovation notices that we issued them. Impala House on plot 13/15 Portal Avenue, Adam House on plot 11, Portal Avenue, Uganda House on plot 8 and 10, Kampala road,” KCCA said in a statement released today.
The note added; “The renovation notices required that they renovate their buildings including fixing broken pipes, drainage systems, rusted plumbing fittings, exposed electrical fittings, maintenance of frontages, and painting among others.”
According to KCCA, landlords were given notices to renovate their buildings but they defied the orders. For instance, Uganda House received the renovation notice on 23rd June2013.
KCCA is urging landlords to renovate their structures in preparation for the visit of Pope Francis in late November. The authority has said it is going to close more buildings whose owners have failed to renovate them.
