Watoto church has contributed Shs100million towards the construction of Church House, a building located in Kampala and owned by church of Uganda.
The Shs100million cheque was handed over to the head of Church of Uganda, Archbishop Stanley Ntagali by Pastor Gary Skinner of Watoto church during fellowship last Friday.
Pastor Skinner told the congregation that church of Uganda has woken up and is preaching Jesus.
“We are one church. The Church of Uganda has woken up and is preaching Jesus. You have had a great impact in the community and we thought we should support you,” Skinner said
In his sermon, Ntagali referred to Romans 12:1 by urging Christians to present themselves as a living sacrifice
“When we present ourselves to God, he will surprise us beyond our imagination,” Ntagali said
“Thank you Watoto Church! Thank you, Lord, for what you are doing to bring your people together as a testimony to your love and power,” he added
Church house construction started in December 2010 but the project temporarily stalled during 2013 due to a conflict between two parties involved in the construction.
The conflict was successfully resolved and construction was re-started in July 2014.
Once completed, the will house commercial banks, shops and offices, to generate money for the church.
The Church House project estimated to cost $16m.
