Police Foils UCU strike

Students of Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono were today left agitated after Uganda police interrupted the planned strike.

According to an inside source, the students had plotted a peaceful demonstration to show their discontent over some administrative issues.

Among the reasons for their displeasure are; The fact that they are being forced to use only the main gate to access the campus, high tuition, and long lectures.

Apparently, the other gates were closed due to the terror threats from the Islamist group Al Shabaab.

Students say that using one gate delays them hence inefficiency.

The insider further points out that the lecturers do roll calls which usually leave out various students since they have a distance to move.

On the long lectures, students claim that it is frustrating for a university student to be in class from 7am to 7pm.

With these issues in light, the disgruntled students had organized a peaceful demonstration but to their dismay, by 7am, there was heavy deployment of Police officers both in and out of campus.
