Uganda is set to host the 2015 All African Women Volleyball qualifiers slated for Today April 21, 2015
The six-day event will take place at the MTN Lugogo Arena in Kampala.
Six countries have already confirmed their participation in the women’s tournament and they are; Kenya, Egypt, Burundi, Ethiopia, Tanzania and hosts Uganda.
Rwanda failed to turn-up with their federation citing lack of adequate time to prepare the team because most of the players had featured in other tournaments.
The top two teams on the final day of the tournament will automatically book their places at this year’s All Africa games to be held in Congo Brazzaville from September 4 to 16, 2015.
Fifteen players are already in the Ugandan camp at Lubowa a Kampala suburb ahead of the event.
The last time Uganda hosted the tournament, the She Volleyball Cranes qualified for the final round of the World Championship after defeating Tanzania and Egypt in straight sets.
Uganda will bank on the home support and adequate preparations if they are to repeat the fete.
Femia Awor, Joan Nabuuto, Astreede Agaaba, Peace Busingye, Josephine Nammanda, Flavia Ndawuula, Maureen Mwamula, Zaina Kagoya, Adella Asimiire, Winnie Nakabuubi, Gloria Nantege, Saidat Nnungi and Margaret Namyalo are some of the players in the Cranes camp undergoing training at ISU –Lubowa.
The Men’s volleyball zone V group one tournament will be hosted in Kigali, Rwanda from May 1 to 6, 2015.
Five countries; Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania and Rwanda will take part in the tournament.
