Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and SC Villa have progressed to the semi-finals of the 2014/2015 Uganda Cup after knocking out SC Victoria University and Kyambogo FC respectively on Sunday evening.
Kyambogo FC got the lead 40 minutes into the game after KCC’s Hakim Ssenkumba was dispossessed by Brian Kiyemba.
Kiyemba managed to beat KCC’s captain Ssaka Mpiima and Ayub Kiiza in defense before firing in a ground thunderbolt past goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan.
Kyambogo looked a better side and managed to overshadow the 2014 league champions via possession and goal attempts during the first half of the game.
The second half however looked tight for Kyambogo FC, owing to the fact that the Kasasiro boys had put in mind that if there is any chance for them to get silverware this season; this was the only chance they had to grab.
Three minutes into the second half, KCC’S Herman Wasswa had a chance to equalize for the visitors after a pass from Owen Kasule but Kyambogo FC goal keeper Etyang Joseph was on the right spot to clear the ball.
Kyambogo’s goalkeeper Etyang Joseph fouled KCC’S on form Baker Lukooya in the 18yards box and the visitors were awarded a penalty thanks to Herman Wasswa who had laid that pass.
At normal time both sides had stalled at a 1-1 score and with the result forced the game into extra time but the score remained 1 – 1.
Herman Wasswa, Owen Kasule, Joseph Ochaya and heroic Isaac Ntege managed to score their spot kicks in favour of KCCA while Kyambogo FC managed to score only one spot kick via Wilberforce Sanya.
KCC goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan saved Emma Ocheng’s spot and the final whistle saw KCC eject Kyambogo FC on spot kicks with 4-1 result.
Meanwhile at Nelson Mandela stadium, SC Villa also booked their place to the semi finals after defeating hosts SC Victoria University by one goal to Zero.
Isaac Muleme scored a penalty for Villa after SC Victoria defender Martin Mpuga had handled the ball in the forbidden area.
The semi finals will see KCC, Villa tussle it out with already qualified BUL FC and Lweza .
The draws for the 2014/2015 Uganda Cup semi-finals are to be conducted on Wednesday this week at FUFA House in Mengo.
