KCCA FC will open their campaign in the 2015 Mapinduzi Cup against Tanzanian League champions Azam FC this evening in Zanzibar.
The two teams that will participate in the 2015 CAF Champions League will be renewing their rivalry 10 days after KCCA FC beat the Tanzanian side 2-0 in an International friendly in Kampala.
KCCA FC Coach Abdallah Mubiru said that his boys are ready to play their hearts out. Mubiru who was confirmed as head coach after George Nsimbe joined Azam FC as assistant coach said they will take the opening game very seriously.
Mubiru explained that although he will miss key players like Brian Umony and Isaac Ntege who stayed behind because of injury, the players available are ready to do the work.
Striker Herman Wasswa is expected to lead KCCA FC’s goal hunt, while the fluidity of Simon Namwanja and Ronnie Kisekka will be vital in defense.
Former KCCA FC attacking midfielder Brian Majwega who joined Azam FC two weeks ago will turn his guns against his former employers. The Tanzanian Champions will also look to towering John Bocco, Didier Kavumbagu and new signing Pascal Wawa.
The other games that will take place at the Amman Stadium on Friday will see Young Africans FC face Jan’gombe, while Zanzibar League champions KMKM take on Mtende Rangers. The final of the ninth edition of the event, held annually as part of celebrations for Zanzibar revolutions, will take place on January 13.
