Three Ugandans working and living in the South Sudan town of Bor have been shot dead by a policeman in Bor market for yet unclear reasons.

The incident took place Wednesday at Marol Market in Bor town at 4:00pm. The policeman who is currently under detention reportedly opened fire killing three Ugandans on the spot and wounding another unidentified Ugandan. A South Sudan national who was nursing injuries also later died.

According to the Aswa regional policespokes person Patrick Jimmy okema the police man opened fire from a hotel killing one Taban from Yumbe, a Muganda whose identity have not yet been revealed and Issa Tom.

Okema says that they are now working with the Police in Sudan to ascertain the cause of the shooting and also ensure that the policeman is brought to justice.

Local media in Sudan quoted Bor Mayor Nhial Majak as saying that he strongly condemns the shooting.

Our sources have learnt that the bodies of the three were yesterday airlifted by helicopter to Uganda.

Attempts to speak to the Uganda people’s Defence Force (UPDF) spokesperson Paddy Ankunda were futile as his known phone numbers were off.
