The Supreme Court has concluded hearing the appeal of former Arua Municipality Member of Parliament, Hussein Akbar Godi.
The former legislator was in early 2011 sentenced to 25 years in prison for murdering his wife Rehema Caesar Nasur.
In the appeal, Godi maintains that the trial judge failed to properly evaluate the evidence on record, thereby arriving at a wrong decision.
A penal of 5 Supreme Court Justices led by Bart Katureebe today heard Godi’s appeal. Judgement is to be delivered on notice.
Godi had appealed against the jail term on grounds that trial judge failed to properly evaluate the evidence, thereby arriving at a wrong conclusion that he was the one responsible for the death of his wife.
On February 11, 2011, Mr Gidudu found Godi guilty of killing his wife when he shot her with a pistol at Lukojjo in Nama Sub-county, Mukono District on December 4, 2008. Godi was then a legislator.
