Irene Ntale was on Monday afternoon confirmed and declared ambassador of the red card campaign by Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) replacing sports personality and referee legend, Charles Masembe who has served the position since 2013.
The appointment means that Song bird Irene Ntale will be the voice, face and ambassador for the Red Card Campaign of the Uganda Nile Breweries aimed at creating a responsible alcohol drinking, (don’t drink and drive).
Speaking to Journalists at the unveiling ceremony of Ntale, on Monday this week, Charity Kiyemba, the corporate relations Director UBL, said the Love letter hit maker was chosen as the face of the campaign because of her reputable character, strong values, and appeal to millions of Ugandans between 18-35 years of age.
“As the campaign ambassador, Irene will inspire Ugandans to drink responsibly so that our roads are safe for all users, especially during festive seasons.”Ms Kiyemba said.
Irene also promised to stop drinking and driving in her acceptance remarks.
“Today, I too pledge not to drink and drive and I urge all of you, my fellow musicians in the industry, fans, my colleagues, and my fellow citizens, drink responsibly. Think about the consequences of your actions before you make that decision that could ruin your family, your festive mood and most importantly, your life.”Ntale vowed, while accepting to take over the ambassador role.
To increase the awareness Ntale has so far recorded the campaign song which will amplify the awareness drive about responsible drinking in the society.
Over the last seven years, UBL and its partners have carried out responsible drinking campaigns to increase awareness a round responsible consumption of alcohol and reduce harm or abuse of its products.
