In an exclusive telephone interview with Red Pepper Online edition, newly acquired Simba Sports Club (Tanzania) striker Daniel Sserunkuma reflected thankfully on his depressing departure from Kenyan champions Gor Mahia were he had been in scintillating form.

“Considering the season I had in Kenya the last eight months or the last two years in such a league, I think I would have wanted to stay at Gor with a coach who stood for beautiful football. Individually as a player i would have wanted to stay on because everyone there was helpful and friendly. I think that the club will go on and perform even better next season. There you have it, it is like that. It had to happen like this. A new challenge awaits me now. There are things that have been done and things that were not destined to happen.”

Uganda international Sserunkuma who was the top scorer in the Kenyan League last season with 16 goals joined Simba SC last Friday on a two year contract. He joins fellow Ugandans Joseph Owino and Emmanuel Okwi at Simba SC.

He is represented by British-born FIFA players’ agent Ken Joseph.
