Milutin ‘Micho’ Sedrojevic sprang two big surprises on Wednesday by naming uncapped SC Vipers young midfielder Keziron Kizito and El Merriekh goal keeper, Jamal Salim in his squad for Uganda’s upcoming friendly against Ethoipia on Sunday, 9th November 2014.
Jamal has helped El Merriekh win the CECAFA Kagame Cup and Sudan Cup this term while his 19-year-old friend Keziron has been in good form for Buikwe based Vipers, who are flying high in the Uganda Premier League.
There is also a surprise recall for Lweza midfielder Mike Serumaga.
KCC FC centre back Richard Kassaga has been included despite fears over his ankle injury while teammate Habib Kavuma also gets a recall.
As expected, Vipers goalkeeper Ismail Watenga is included in the squad and he will challenge Odongkara and Jamal for the number one spot. Brian Bwete is Uganda’s fourth goalkeeper in a 26-man squad named by Micho that starts immediate training at Namboole stadium on Wednesday evening.
Forward Moses Oloya is named in the squad even though he has been out of action recently with contract problems.
There had been speculation that veteran right back Simon Masaba, young winger Dan Birikwalira, Sports Club Victoria University trio of goal keeper, Benjamin Ochan, defender Murushid Jjuuko and utility player, Dennis Iguma would be included in the squad, but they have not been named.
Micho has vowed to rotate his line-up in the international friendly in order to give his young guns and returnees a chance to force their way into his 2015 African Cup of Nations team for the games against Ghana and Guinea.
SC Villa midfielder Hassan Wasswa, is expected to get a run-out in the fixture.
Savio Kabugo, who made two stunning performances for Uganda last month, keeps his place in the squad and is also expected to feature in the upcoming game.
