Saints forwards Fred Kyambadde, Alex Kitata and Viane Ssekajuggo have been called to join the National Under 23 team that started training at Namboole Tuesday morning to prepare for the All Africa Games qualifiers that get underway later this month.
The three have scored seven goals for the Saints this season in five games. Kitata has four goals, Ssekajugo has two goals and Kyambadde has one goal.
Ssekajuggo last week featured in the U-23 training friendly game with the Cranes while his teammates joined the rest of the squad for the first time on Tuesday morning.
Saints Head Coach Mark Twinamatsiko said: “The three players trained with the U-23 team and we hope to have them for our league game this Sunday.”
The Kobs were supposed to play Egypt in a friendly this Wednesday but it was cancelled however, they will continue training with U-23 coach Frank Anyau.
Meanwhile, Saints will play Uganda Premier League club Police FC in a friendly game at Namboole this Wednesday as they prepare for Sunday’s FUFA Big League clash against Ndejje University FC.
This will be the first time that The Saints and Police are meeting.
Police are in good form in the Premier League while the Saints are unbeaten in five games in the FUFA Big League.
The Saints have played UPL teams in the pre-season and have overcome Soana 4-1, drew with URA 1-1 and also drew 1-1 with Sports Club Victoria University.
Former Saints defender Edward Kuume will be turning the guns against his former club.
Kuume played for The Saints last season but left to join Police at the start of this season.
The Saints last played in the league last week and defeated Rwenzori group rivals JMC 1-2 at their Kakindu ground in Jinja but have another huge test against Ndejje university who are yet to lose a game this season having played six games won two and drawn four.
