Uganda Cranes coach, Micho Sredojevic, is increasingly confident he can lead Uganda to the Promised Land.
Having recovered from the two 1-0 back-to-back defeats to Togo, the Serbian guided the Cranes to a resurgent 1-0 win over the Ghana Black Stars to open wide Group E.
With one game left, Ghana top Group E with eight points, with Uganda and Guinea both on seven apiece. Cranes, however, have a better goal difference. Togo have six points.
The result in Kampala coupled with a 4-1 Guinea drubbing of Togo in Lome leaves the Cranes needing just a draw in Casablanca to qualify for the Afcon finals for the first time in 37 years.
And Micho, now more than ever believes. “We shall prepare ourselves very much because even for Ghana, Guinea and Togo, it is obsession to repeat (keep qualifying to the Africa Cup of Nations),” he said.
“For us it is a dream, and a dream is always bigger than obsession to repeat. So the dream has to be our driving force.
“Personally after winning I’m happy but the road is still far from over. I will just say am proud and happy, and privileged to be coach of these wonderful boys.
“But in that regard I’d like to request you to keep calm, do not be over excited. Allow us to qualify the team, do not allow a situation where with excitement the head is going away.”
