Mutoni Warriors 13-03 Impis
Ezee Money Rhinos 06-05 Heathens
Sadolin Mongers 26-15 Pirates
Kobs 29-03 Toyota Buffaloes
Fans could not hold back the wild celebrations on Saturday evening after Ezee Money Rhinos held on, to earn their first Nile Special Rugby Premiership victory against giants Heathens.
This was pitting two very different sides in Ugandan rugby, the biblical tale of David and Goliath and Rhinos one of those neat and tidy sides triumphed 6-5 at Legends Rugby Ground in a paradigm shift of the local league and unlike last season, the premiership currently has no unbeaten side after week 5.
Heathens had just endured a 10-10 draw with Sadolin Mongers in the outing before at Entebbe and little did the side know they were heading for misfortune.
Newly acquired kick Kevin Makmot converted a penalty to put rhinos ahead before Asuman Mugerwa put the Uganda cup winners forward with a try but failed the preceding conversion. Kevin Makmot sealed Rhinos win with another penalty he kicked through to make 06 after infringement a few meters from the center that condemned Heathens to their first league defeat. Rhinos look resplendent in their new jerseys indeed.
Elsewhere, Mutoni Warriors were Friday match day winners against University side Impis with a 13-03 final score while Sadolin Mongers secured their third victory of the season following their vital 26-15 win against pirates at the dreaded Entebbe Rugby Grounds
Heathens are on top of the table with 17 points, three ahead of second and third placed Kobs and Rhinos.
