SC Villa’s quest to stay atop the Uganda Premier League (UPL) log has faced a denting turn after the Jogoos fell 1-0 to giants KCC at Ssaza Ground in Mityana on Friday.
Starlet Paula Mucureezi who was a second half subsitute for Ivan Ntege scored the single goal beating defenders Derrick Walulya and Musa Doka along the way leaving Villa goalkeeper Nicholas Sebwato all but beaten too before slotting home to the dismay of Jogoo fans and the delight of the Lugogo based die-hards who share 26 league titles between themselves.
At Kavumba, Vipers picked their fifth in six games through goals from Saddam Juma and Farouk Miya with leaders Villa faltering means coach Edward Golola’s side assume table leadership for the first time this season.
At Wankulukuku, URA continued their raise in the log when they defeated an equally formidable Lweza 2-0. The Tax Collectors had Robert Ssentongo, scorer of four goals in his last two games and forward Ali Feni, netting the all important goals as the Lugazi based side added onto their nine points from six games.
At Nakivubo, Entebbe’s hopes of getting out of the relegation zone continue to falter after failing to once again pick only their second victory in six games against Kefa Kisala’s Bul. The game ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
