Arts is a diverse aspect, it spreads to so many things and of late it has also gone to fashion. In the forthcoming Kampala fashion Week, Arts seminars have been introduced, the aim of the seminars is enhancing the vast cultural and creative talent the fashion designers in Uganda have to offer.

The second seminar was held recently at Uganda Germany Cultural Society in Nakasero, under the theme, the Various Elements to the Fashion Industry. The pre-Kampala Fashion Week seminars have been arranged with guest speakers to enlighten the public on the success stories, processes and experiences within the fashion industry. The guest speakers in the first seminar included Fiona Naigwe who works as the Head Tailor of Kampala Fashion Week and a graduate from Makerere University School of Fine Art. Elmar Stroomer the Team Manager at Design without Borders, U.K based fashion company, Gloria Wavamunno well known for raising the Ugandan fashion flag a notch higher were also lined up as the speakers.

With the mission of Kampala Fashion Week which is “Motivating, Inspiring and Creating Artistry”. The cocktail seminar that started at 6:30pm attracted fashion designers and to-be designers who kept their heads high, ears open and eyes glued as they got tips on how they can up their fashion careers.

Fiona Naigwe who is the head tailor of Kampala Fashion Week showed the audience and taught them how they can make clothes from different materials like the satin, shiffon, back cloth and different fabrics among others.

Shortly after that, Gloria Wavamunho who was the host of the seminar introduced Elmar Strooner, his presentations entirely bordered on transferring knowledge about design methodology and innovation to everyone in the society.

The seminars which are expected up to November 2014 are aimed at assisting in verbal and visual fashion education on a global scale.
