A meeting attended by former Kenyan premier, Raila Odinga and his CORD party deputy Moses Wetangula, several senators and MPs almost turned chaotic when a person believed to be insane caned Odinga and Kwale governor Salim Mvurya.

Mvurya and Raila were dancing accompanied by Senators Wetangula, Juma Boy, James Orengo, Johnston Muthama ,Agnes Zani, Hassan Omar; MPs Hassan Mwanyoha and Zulekha Hassan when the drama started.

The middle aged man joined them in the dance but later using his stick, pounced on Raila caning him twice and turned to Governor Salim Mvurya who was also thrashed twice.

Both Raila and Mvurya’s aides were not close when the incident took place with the man initially being stopped by a county publicity officer Omar Mwagao who wrestled him.

Kinango AP commander Peter Musyoka said they could not arrest and lock the man because he was out of his mind.

“We cannot arrest a mad person because we know him very well,” he said.

It was later announced that the man was apparently unhappy that his wife was dancing together with the politicians, thus his actions.

During the rally, the CORD leader took issue with those calling him to be accountable for KES 15 billion said to have gone missing during the Grand Coalition government saying he is more than ready.
