Reports coming in say that the General Court Martial has acquitted Internal Security Organization (ISO) director of marines, Major Herbert Muramagi after being accused of allegations that he wanted to poison and kill President Yoweri Museveni and his son, Brigadier Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
We are yet to get an official statement from Maj Gen Levi Karuhanga, the chairperson of the General Court Martial.
Muramagi was also being accused of plotting to eliminate prominent people in this government including Maj Muhoozi, Gen Kale Kayihura (IGP), Hon Frank Tumwebaze (Minister of Presidency), Sam Kutesa and Lt Col Bright Rwamirama among othersand was facing charges of conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline before the military court in Makindye, a Kampala suburb.
The State alleged that, Muramagi, with others, plotted for the killings between last May and February this year. He allegedly committed the offense in diverse places in Kampala but failed to pin him down to it. He had always denied the charges.
