Manshur Suwed, the Central North regional police spokesperson says the deceased was playing on the verandah when the wall collapsed and injured him critically.

Moses Odongo, the father Adoko says his son was hit on the fore head at around 8:00am.

He explains that they rushed to the deceased to Lira referral hospital, which referred him to Lacor hospital in Gulu district when his condition worsened for better management of his case.

Odongo says his son breathed his last at Corner Aboke along Lira-Gulu highway.

The Cop said that he is devastated by the death of his son because he had all his hopes in him.

Last year, another child to a cop was killed under similar circumstances in Lira police barracks. Most of the buildings in Lira police barracks were built during the colonial administration and have never been rehabilitated over time.

Majority of police personnel in this barracks just like many others across the country, live under deplorable conditions.  Lira police barracks is home to more than 150 Cops.

However, the senior cops at the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police-ASP live in relatively better houses that were renovated two years ago.
