At least 23 people are feared dead and 16 others injured in a road accident near Juba, South Sudan this morning.
The accident occurred at about 7am at Nisitu, some 135 kilometres from Juba, when a Bakulu company bus registration number UAS 073P collided with a trailer registration number UAB 300E.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa regional police spokesperson, says the driver of the trailer was driving on the left and yet he was already supposed to change to the right as he had entered South Sudan.
The Bakulu Coach bus was traveling from Juba to Kampala, while the trailer was heading to the opposite direction. Okema says the injured have been rushed to Juba Hospital but feared that the death toll could increase.
The Aswa regional police was discussing on their intervention by the time of filling this report.
Isa Kyazeiza, a Ugandan working in Aruu junction in South Sudan who went to the scene, says that the 16 injured people should be transferred immediately to Uganda as the medical attention in Juba is not sufficient.
