A Closer Look At How Sky VC, Rwanda Revenue Authority Won Maiden NSSF-KAVC Titles

Sky Volleyball club on Sunday night entered the books of Volleyball history as ‘NSSF -KAVC International champions. This was after they edged a determined defending champion, Inatek (from Rwanda) Club 3-1 in a mouth-watering final played in the MTN Arena.
Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) on the other hand, white washed surprise packs, Vision Volleyball Camp 3 – 0 in the ladies’ category 25-23, 25-15 and 25 – 22 to win the main trophy and $ 500 cash prize.
The two day annual invitational international commemorating the foundation of the club 44 years ago by students of Makerere University led by Neko Muduse-Ojala attracted 21 teams from Burundi, Rwanda and hosts Uganda as well as special appearances of the sitting volleyball flavor and primary schools of Samaritan Namugongo and Sunrise Matugga. The 18th edition that upheld the theme “Championing Better Community Health and Behavior through sports” was also spiced up by top Ugandan artists including Jackie Chandiru, Irene Nantale.
The guest of honor was the Minister of state for sports represented by Jasper Aligawesa, General Secretary of the National Council of Sports who was accompanied by dignitaries; the sponsor representative Patrick Ayota Chief Finance Officer NSSF alongside several executives from NSSF, the President Uganda Volleyball Federation Sadik Nasiwu, the President Rwanda Volleyball Federation Gustave Nkuruzinza and several members of the diplomatic corps.
NSSF in its remarks thanked the organizers, the Federation and partners of volleyball for ably fostering the popularity of the game and pledged to continue supporting this annual event that has since started reaping benefits of raising the standard and status of the game.
Co-sponsors Rwenzori Pure Mineral Water, Crown Beverages limited, CASE Medical Center, 9 Degrees were specially acknowledged for lending a hand too in the tournament.
The President of KAVC Robert Mofaht Masaba pledged to continue the club’s zeal of contributing to the development of volleyball and sport in the country as a viable and vibrant partner.
The tournament was crowned off with thrilling performances from Irene Ntale, Jackie Chandiru and Khalifa Aganaga.
The winners bagged American Dollars 500 and the runner up 300 in each gender on top of classical trophies and other awards courtesy of NSSF. Also recognized with special accolades were the most outstanding individual performers including
