Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has said that even if he will be 70 years old next September, he still has the energy to carry on with his state duties. He says if any political parties try to become a problem, he will deal with them.
Museveni says that he appreciates that he has been blessed with good health and takes care of it. He says this is why he was able to deal with the problems caused by Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) and former President Idi Amin Dada.
Museveni was speaking at the celebrations to mark the International Youth Day on Tuesday held in Moroto town.
This year’s event was marked under the theme “Unlocking young people’s potential for sustainable development through collective investment”.
The President added that unlocking the potential among the youth is possible if they are alive and healthy. He went on to urge the youth to be careful in their sexual behaviour because careless sex can cost them their loves.
During the celebrations, Museveni said he hopes the youth will stop behaving like the blind and see the opportunities coming their way. He says the youth should use their energy to engage in profitable activities.
Museveni noted that he was happy to see the youth talking about wealth creation, capital, household income and development. He said they should present their ideas to the government for action.
The international youth day, which is celebrated every 12th of August all over the world, was first inaugurated in 1991.
