Jean Damascene Munyeshyaka, the organizing secretary of the Green party was last seen on June 27th, 2014.

Frank Habineza, the president of the Green party says that Munyeshyaka went missing from his home in Nyamata town.

Habineza says after waiting for Munyeshyaka to return in vain they filed a report at Nyamata Police Station in Bugesera District.

Damas Gatare, the Rwandan Police spokesperson has confirmed receiving reports of the missing the politicians, adding that,  the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has since launched investigation and is working with his family members to establish circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

He urges the family and local politicians to refrain from speculation and instead cooperate with police in the investigation process.

Gatare says Rwanda National Police has handled similar cases before, which turned out fake.

The ruling Rwanda Patriotic Front government has repeatedly been accused of kidnapping and bumping off opposition politicians, a charge it vehemently denies.
