SCVU have to wait another 24 hours before its first game after South Sudan team, Malakia FC’s arrival in Khartoum was delayed.
The Sudanese side was scheduled to play in the opening tie against SCVU in the 2014 Cecafa Nile Basin Cup Winners tournament.
Hassan Amir, a Cecafa official said that the South Sudan team had not yet arrived because of some communication problems. He however added that some changes could be made to the groups and fixtures.
After Morley Byekwaso’s side taking on the northen neigbours, Al Merreikh of Sudan will follow with a tough test against Police of Zanzibar (8.00pm) while Al-Shandy of Sudan will take on Dkhill FC of Djibouti also at 8pm.
All Egyptian clubs invited for the tournament pulled out putting the number of participating teams at eleven.
Group ‘A’ comprises Al Merreikh (Sudan), Victoria University (Uganda), Malakia (South Sudan) and Police (Zanzibar). Group ‘B’ has AFC Leopards (Kenya), Mbeya City (Tanzania), Academie Tchite (Burundi), Entincelles (Rwanda) while teams in Group ‘C’ include Al-Shandy (Sudan), Defence of Ethiopia and Dkhill FC of Djibouti.
The tournament, which runs May 22 to June 4, will feature 16 teams with the winner taking home US$30,000, runner-up US$20,000 and the third placed US$10,000.
