Luganda daily, KAMUNYE have done a stellar job of pulling together football articles which have flying about all week, but an interesting confession piece in their Friday offering deserves a second mention.
According to the tabloid, FSL defending champions Kampala City Council, loaded Uganda Revenue Autority FC and FUFA Big League gaints The Saints are all battling to sign Uganda Cranes and Kiira Young fullback Julius Ntambi who is out of contract and has vowed not to return to the club at any cost.
Ntambi, 21-years-old, was a stand-out act in Kiira’s surge last season to the brink of contending for the 2013/14 FUFA Super League title, and he has unfortunately been labelled with the moniker “the new Simon Masaba”.
According to sources, URA have the edge over KCC and The Saints in the race for the player with the prospect of permanently replacing the aged Simon Masaba and a good pay-cheque.
In January 2014, coach Milutin Sedrojevic, invited him to be a part of the Uganda national football team squad for the 2014 African Nations Championship.
