University Football League
Group A: MUST, KU, UMU-Nkozi, MUBS, Makerere & UCU-Mukono
Group B: Gulu, Nkumba, Ndejje, Busitema, KIU & Kyambogo
The Nile Special University Football League will kick off next Tuesday with a marathon of games that will be played until Sunday.
During the launch held at Kati kati Restaurant in Lugogo, four teams including Kyambogo University, which skipped last year’s action were included. The debutants include; Gulu University, Busitema and Uganda Christian University (UCU).
These sides join the eight teams that played last year; defending champions Kampala University, Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Makerere University, Kyambogo, Uganda Martyrs University-Nkozi, Mbarara University of Science & Technology (MUST), Ndejje University and Nkumba University.
Defending champions Kampala University were pooled in a seemingly tight Group A alongside perennial campaigners MUBS, 2012 champions Makerere, debutants UCU, surprise package MUST and whipping boys UMU.
Group B has two teams playing in the Big League; Gulu and Ndejje, alongside 2013 runners-up Nkumba, debutants Busitema, KIU and returnees Kyambogo.
The group games will be played between March and April before the top four teams play the quarter finals between September and November.
Elite players, who ply their trade in the super and Big League will not be eligble.
