Uganda’s Coffee Exports Up 3 pct yr/yr In February: UCDA
“The central and eastern regions where harvesting is underway have been witnessing dry weather which is very important in fast drying of the beans,” said a source at the state-run Ugandan Coffee Development Authority (UCDA).
“It (dry weather) is also important because it helps in aiding easy transportation of coffee from rural areas where roads can be nearly impassable in rainy periods.”
Last February, Africa’s top coffee exporter shipped a revised 344,760 bags. The crop is one of the government’s main sources of foreign currency.
