The Director of Uganda’s intelligence agency, the Internal Security Organization (ISO) in charge of the marines was on Tuesday charged with a plot to kill superiors identified as MPs.
Maj Herbert Muramagi was early this month arrested by a combined team of military Intelligence officers and police detectives at his home in Kiwatule, a suburb in the capital, Kampala.
He was charged before the country’s General court marital chaired by Brig. Moses Ssentongo, in Makindye, Kampala.
Prosecution alleges that between last May and last month, Muramagi together with others, devised a plot to kill superiors.
Last week, the Internal Security Organisation director general Brig Ronnie Balya, told a local newspaper that Maj Herbert Muramagi, was being investigated over allegations of unethical and unprofessional conduct.
He added saying that his office had received multiple complaints against the spy chief, including, negligence of duty, incompetence and grievances by civilians over irregular acquisition of land.
