RPMobile, a Short Messaging Service (SMS), is the latest baby joining the thrilling Red Pepper, the prolific English Weekly Hello Uganda, the vivacious Luganda Daily Kamunye, the vibrant Red Pepper Online and the vigorous Runyakitara Entatsi, which grew into a bi-weekly recently.
The new platform is the latest addition on the company’s digital division which boasts of top news site publishing on www.redpepper.co.ug, a Twitter handle @RedPepperUG and an active facebook page RedPepperUG which is now number one page in the print media category in the country.
“All these new media products are to help serve our readers better with high quality information and entertainment, delivered instantly into their devices as soon as it breaks,” says Arinaitwe Rugyendo, Director of Marketing & Digital Media.
Rugyendo says Red Pepper readers will now receive instant news on their mobile phones from the newspaper and their multiple news sources from the high echelons of political power and big business.
Rugyendo added that readers and the general public will get access to the latest breaking news, gossip and sports starting today once they subscribe.
The service can be accessed by creating a message in one’s phone through the following procedure; Type RPNEWS and send the message to 8687.
“With this simple message, readers will automatically be subscribed on our hit platform. They also have an option to opt out anytime they want,” Rugyendo adds.
Asked if the readers might be able to track their favourite columnist Mr. Hyena’s sexcapades, Rugyendo said that was still a tightly-guarded secret but would think about it if Public Demand continues surging.
This service will enable the public to get instant news as it happens, and with Red Pepper’s magnificent news gathering ability, readers should expect nothing but the best.
