Uganda’s first-choice goalkeeper Dennis Onyango has said he is loving his loan stint at Absa Premiership side Bidvest Wits.
Onyango, who is on a one-year loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, told his club website during an interview in Pretoria that he is keeping his fingers crossed to stay at Bidvest Wits.
“For me being at Wits is a much better opportunity because my chances are high here compared to at Sundowns,” said Onyango.
The former SC Villa (Uganda) and St George (Ethiopia) shot stopper said although they are in third position on the log, they are not under pressure and will keep pushing hard for top honours.
“Last year we completed fourth and achieving a better position than that will be a plus,” added Onyango.
Speaking about his limited playing time, Onyango said he is not complaining because he found a good and experienced first choice goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs at the club.
“Yes I have featured in one league match, but am happy that we are working as a team and have the best goalkeeping department in the league as we have conceded fewer goals,” he said.
Bidvest Wits are now third on the log behind Mamelodi Sundowns and defending champions Kaizer Chiefs, who are top.
