Lwengo Head Teacher Balloons P7 Pupil

Charles Kiyimba, the Deputy Head Teacher of Kigeye Primary School in Malongo Sub-county, Lwengo District is in trouble for allegedly impregnating a P7 Pupil.

Another teacher at the same school Assa Twinomukama is wanted for aiding the Kiyimba to meet up with the girl (15) to have sex several times.

Kiyimba and Twinomukama got into trouble last week after the girl realised she had become pregnant.

It is said that the girl had not realized that she had conceived until March this year when her parents noticed she was pregnant.

She was probed and later revealed the person responsible for the pregnancy.

Upon learning that the girl had told her parents, Kiyimba secretly caused the girl to run away from home and rented a room for her without her parent’s knowledge.

As a result, the girl’s father John Kavigira Ssemakula reported the disappearance of his daughter to the LC I authorities who referred the matter to police.

However, the matter took a new twist when Twinomukama approached the girl’s parents and confessed to them that they had the girl in a safe place.

Paul Wataka, the District Police Commander, says Ssemakula secretly met with the perpetrators and asked for one million shillings in order to settle the matter outside court.

Wataka explains that the incident occurred around November last year before the girl sat for her Primary Leaving Examinations.

Unfortunately, the matter had reached Sulaiti Kanyomozi, the Parents Teachers Association Chairman who pursued it and instigated Ssemakula’s arrest for conniving with the perpetrators to condone crime.

Kanyomozi adds that the girl performed poorly with over 30 aggregates because she could not concentrate in class as a result of the pregnancy.

According to Wataka, Ssemakula was arrested and detained at Mbiriizi police and later released on bond as investigations continue.

However, police’s failure to arrest the accused persons has sparked off controversies among the School PTA’s board and other parents.

Kigeye Primary School administration is currently under pressure from parents and the PTA board to have the accused teachers sacked for their poor conduct.

The same pressure has been brought against Mbiriizi police station to arrest the two teachers who are still in service at the same school where the crime was committed.

On the other hand, the girl and the accused declined to comment on the matter
