Azira Rested In Seattle Sounders Loss

Former SC Villa star midfielder Mike Azira was rested as Seattle Sounders  lost 2-1 to Toronto FC Major League Soccer on Saturday 15 March 2014 at the Century Link field stadium, Seattle, Washington.

AziraIn the match, Toronto did the damage former Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe first-half double on his debut.

Speaking to Red Pepper Online edition, Azira said he will be lined up in their Saturday 22 March 2014 match against Impact in Montreal Canada.

“I am doing much better since joining Sounders but the coach advised me to rest on Saturday hence not being involved against Toronto but I will be back for the next match.

Ibrahim Ssekajja was an unused sub as New York Red Bull fought for a 1-all draw with Colorado Rapids.

Azira, 26, started three of six appearances for Sounders FC during the 2014 preseason. He spent the previous two seasons with the Charleston Battery of USL-1, scoring seven goals in 46 appearances. Azira helped the Battery win the 2012 USL-1 Championship, scoring the game-winner in the final.

Azira played collegiately at Lindsay Wilson College and University of Mobile, where he earned NAIA All-America Honorable Mention.
