For three straight years, Van Pee has failed to complete the season because of education obligation. This year, he has promised to strike a balance and feature in all competitive events. Many believe it’s his chance to finally win his first national title and winning first National Moto Cross championships held on Sunday at Busiika is obviously a great start.
Van Pee, 20 accumulated 60 points over the three rounds of action to beat returnee Arthur Blick Junior to the MX1 title undoubtedly looking a better competitor than Blick who was chasing a record 11th title.
“It is going to be an exciting season,” Blick declared. Among other stars in the MXI class were Jesse Kamstra, and Kiggundu brothers Talha and Fathu, who have upgraded from MX2.
The next event will take place in early April at the Garuga race track.
Total Uganda, IAA, UAP, Safe Solution and Fotogenix were the co-sponsors of the season opener.
