Rashid Kiyini Sinks Bright Stars

KiyiniFormer Mukono First Division top scorer and current Saints FC marksman Rashid Kiyini started his new job at the FUFA Big League side with a bang by whipping Super league giants Bright Stars twice in a 2-1 half-season friendly match played on Sunday 2 February 2014 at the Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.

Speaking to Red Pepper Online Sport after the match, Kiyini was impressed with his debut amidst promising to reinforce his match fitness before the next match against Proline FC on Tuesday after six months out with a gruesome knee injury.

“It was a good match, very impressive and a big win for the club, stated Kiyini.

“All I need to do before the next match is to work on my fitness but generally I am happy with the result, my first for the Saints.

The defensive tactics worked in the opening half as a well-organised away side frustrated the hosts and sucked the entertainment out of the game.

Stars’ inspirational captain Scholes Muwanga had scored an penalty in the early stages of the game but a Kiyini substitution at half time provide the difference between the two sides. He got his first of the season when he finished calmly after intelligent play from Morris Korriminez.

The hungry striker then doubled his tally for the season after he combined with team-mate Nelly Ssempagara.

Saints has beaten among other Super league giants; SC Victoria University drew with URA FC and Kiira Young in what head coach Mark Twinamatsiko terms as a successful buildup ahead of the FBL second round where they lie fifth in Rwenzori group.
