Police Officer Summoned for Altering DNA Results

A police officer attached to Lyantonde police station is summoned to court to answer queries relating to altering DNA results.

Zaina Kibone, an officer attached to the Family and Child protection Unit is wanted before Lyantonde Grade one Magistrate Patrick Bamuhinga following an accusation that she presented a fabricated report in her initial appearance to court as a case investigating officer.

The case involves one Sharon Nahabwa, a mother of two who dragged her husband Stephen Mukunguzi to police for neglecting his two sons Steven Kakuru and Steven Kato.

The husband however denied paternity for the two boys and accuses his wife of bearing children out of wedlock.

The Magistrate directed that a DNA test be conducted to ascertain the biological father of the boys in question.

Although Zaina Kibone presented DNA results to court that indicated that Mukunguzi is the biological father, Mukunguzi’s lawyer Bashir Lukawa says the results were forged.

Lukawa says that according to tests conducted at the Government Analytical Laboratory in Wandegeya by DNA specialist Andrew Mubiru, the results indicated that another man in contention, Juma Nuwagaba is the biological father of the two boys.

Lukawa asked court to summon Zainah to appear in court and explain to court where she conducted the DNA test plus where she got the results which are believed to be false.

The presiding magistrate agreed with Lukawa summoning the investigating officer in the case to highlight on the said forged DNA results.
