The national basketball team is in Indian Ocean Island of Zanzibar for this week’s Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar as coach Mandy Juruni’s charges look to sweep the invitational tournament which includes the hosts, Tanzania and Kenya.
Juruni axed indisciplined local superstars guard Ronnie Kasewu (Riham Warriors) and centre Ivan Rumanyika (UCU Canons) who failed to honour summons for training and included Swedish-based Kassim Nangwere and Josh Johnson from the UK.
