Two of the deceased were from Lwabaswa landing site in Bujumba Sub County while the other two were from Dajje Fishing Village also in Bujumba Sub County.

All affected people were taken to Kalangala Health Center IV for treatment.

Kalangala District chairman Willy Lugoloobi lamented over the lack of lightening protection systems that could abstract lightning from hitting the populace and lessen the damage that such occurrences have on property.

Lugoloobi says the district could not procure lightning conductors for every landing site in the District because of a limited resource envelope

Kalangala District has for so many years been hit by lightning killing both humans and animals and destroying property.

Last year, 13 people were killed along with 27 cows in Kyamuswa Sub County under similar circumstances. The same incidents led to the destruction of property at Kalangala Magistrates’ court the District headquarters.
