After two years at the helm at 88.5 Super FM, celebrated radio consultant Joel Isabirye is set to leave the station at the beginning of March 2014.
Isabirye who came in almost two years ago is reportedly joining another undisclosed top luganda radio station in Kampala with a frequency below FM 90.
It is unclear why he is leaving except that we know his contract expires soon. Isabirye has in the past worked as consultant with Vision Group, Juice FM, Capital Radio and Beat FM, Dembe FM and Nation Media Group.
In a space of a few weeks in 2012 he turned around Super FM from a declining station to a respectable station with a sizeable listenership.
The station boasts of top presenters like Rasta Rob, Abu Kyazze and Sharitah. A few months ago there were reports that he had been fired by Super Owner Pastor Peter Sematimba for secretly being behind the sudden success of new stations like Galaxy FM and Digida FM. The ‘sacking’ later turned out not to be true.
