World intercontinental welterweight Title
Abdallah Hessen bt Ronald Mugula (48-46,48-45 and 45-49 points)
Ronald Mugula says he was not favoured by the umpires’ decision after he lost his world intercontinental welterweight to Egyptian opponent Abdallah Hessen in a five-round K1 fight at Freedom City Namasuba on New Year’s Day.
Mugula, whose record stood at 62 fights with 45 wins, 11 losses and six draws, had last fought in October when he knocked out Marko Henschke in the third round and Thursday morning lost 2-1 referees’ decision (48-46,48-45 and 45-49 points) to fortfiet the World title he won last year after beating Andras Nagy (RIP).
“I beat Hessen at points. My fans can atest i gave him a count in the first round and as in the international standards I was meant to win,” Mugula told Red Pepper Online sport immediately after the fight.
Mugula intends to fight Moses Golola next.
