Defeat Not An Option As G4S Pirates Fight Relegation

PiratesSam Ahamya’s G4S Pirates RFC welcome third from top side Toyota Buffaloes on Friday knowing anything but victory will leave their survival hopes in tatters

Pirates are seventh placed in the 8 team league where the bottom two will be relegated to pave way for the new league format of six clubs for the 2014/2015 season.

“We have had a bit of an up-and-down season this year but beating Buffaloes will put us in a comfortable position and play our remaining fixtures with less pressure,” team captain Eric Butime told Red Pepper Online edition on Friday morning in a phone chat.

Among today’s key match ups are Dennis Etuket against Phillip Pariyo, Brian Jjemba against Eric Kasita, Alfred Bijik against Greg Lukendo.

Mutoni Warriors who are 6th on 14 points also face the threat of relegation and are gunning to stay in the top division after upsetting Ezee Money Rhinos 17-11 last weekend.
